#FOTD-MAC Cranberry-not just for Xmas

How to wear MAC Cranberry

On Saturday night we went very swanky and went to the Armani hotel in Dubai for dinner at their Indian restaurant Amal.  I wanted to dress up for the occasion and had a burning desire to wear MAC Cranberry so I did a bit of internet research for ideas and then reached out to my friend Lauren for some lipstick inspiration.

I have said it before-I have zero discernible make up skills-I am just a girl who loves playing with make up!!  I was really happy with the result though so here is how I did it.

Base:

I prepped my skin with one pump of MAC Strobe Liquid and one pump of Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer mixed together as a primer.  I am loving this combo at the moment and have a full blog post coming soon about it.  I then used a Beauty Blender to apply Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation (I am the shade Ecru).  My skin has been really clear recently (she says touching wood because every time I say that publicly my skin immediately punishes me!!) so I only used concealer under my eyes.  First I used the By Terry Terrybly Densillis concealer in the shade 1 Fresh Fair to cover dark circles and then I used the L'Oreal MagiLumi Highlighter in Fair to highlight the under eye area.  I set that concealer with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal light (review!)

I also then used the Beauty Blender to stipple some of the YSL Le Teint Saharienne Blur Perfector in shade 2 (review!) across the high points of my face to add some warmth.

I set my face with the Givenchy Poudre Premiere in the shade Universal Nude and then added a touch of bronzer in the form of the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in 1 Golden Light which is a matte bronzer and great for pale girls like me.

Brows:

Barely did anything to be honest here-just popped a bit of MAC Omega eyeshadow through them on a MAC 208 angled brush.

Eyes:

I started by priming them with the Estee Lauder Doublewear lid primer and then placed MAC Cranberry on the inner two thirds of my lid with a MAC 239 brush.  I added MAC Club to the outer third and then blended MAC Patina through the crease.  I added Anastasia Brow Duality which is double ended pencil to the very inner corner-using the shimmery highlight side around the tear duct.

For liner I used the L'Oreal Infallible The Super Slim black liquid liner and mascara was the Sephora Outrageous Volume mascara (review)

Under the eye I just ran the leftover shadow on the 239 brush I used before with Cranberry/Club residue and then used mascara on the bottom lashes.

I did use the Zoeva Graphic Eyes liner in Opulance on the inner waterline but I wasn't convinced (it's red!) and I ended up darkening it with a black kohl.

Cheeks:

I started with Charlotte Tilbury First Love blusher (review) but then added a bit of MAC Warm Soul on Laurens suggestion and this helped warm up the face a little.  I used BECCA Moonstone to highlight my cheekbones and down my nose.

Lips:

I went with MAC Plumful which Lauren recommended but she also recommended MAC Shanghai Spice or Tom Ford Sable Smoke as a nude alternative.

I really loved Amal and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a swanky night out.  It's extremely elegant without being stuffy and the service is warm and attentive.  I am the worlds worst person with spicy food but my dishes were incredible and tailored to my palette.  It also has a great (and more exclusive) view of the Dubai Fountains.

Have you used MAC Cranberry before?  I definitely want to use it more often now!

PS-I am thrilled to have been nominated for 'Best International Beauty Blog' in the Bloggers Blog Awards-you can vote for your favourites here.  Massive thanks to Hayley from Tea Party Beauty for all her very hard work with these awards!
