1. Katy's foundation coverage looks quite full in the video, and a polished look was achieved using highlighter rather than a dewy base. You will need medium-coverage foundation (Bourjois Healthy Mix in #52) and a soft beige/champagne highlighter (TheBalm "The Luminizer").

2. This is a very classic contoured eye, shaded in the outer V and along the socket line. There are 2 colors needed. A

Lazy Face: High-sheen neutral eye

This look was soooo simple it's almost embarrassing. It's also appropriate for work and school, but still eye-catching without being too much.
You need 3 things.
A dark brown shadow for your lashline and outer half of crease.
A soft metallic neutral beige-brown (e.g. below) that's - here's the important bit - a little deeper than your skin color, but very high-shine. This goes all over the

120 Palette Edition 4 - All Shimmers!

Meet the newest (that I know of) edition of the 120 palette.
I can only say one word.

GOORRRR-GEEEEOOUUSSSSSS!!!!

Unlike the first three editions, this is ALL metallic and filled with lots of acidic, warm tropical colors (in fact I'm tempted to call it the Tropical Sunset Edition.) I almost wish I'd known of this sooner as I might not have gotten the original 120.
All the shades are metallic

About: TheBalm's "Luminizer" (aka Mary-Lou Manizer, or wateva...)

Unwieldy name aside, this is a lovely, LARGE compact of one of the most beautiful golden-ivory shades I've ever seen.
Reasons I love this:
1. It's the most gorgeous pale-champagne shade with smooth-as-butter texture which is not glittery or chalky. It is able to mimic that translucent dewy look liquid or cream highlighters give, but is so much more portable and easier to work with. The shade is

5 Days, 5 Ways: MAC Patina shadow (Frost)

MAC Patina may not stand out on the eyeshadow racks beside its more dramatic relatives, but this rich medium frappuccino-brown with subtle copper-red highlights (below) is oh-so-beautiful to wear.

If I had to own just one single MAC eyeshadow for the rest of my life, it would be this in a heartbeat. There are some other pretty lovely shades, but nothing I reach for on such a regular basis.

10 Favorite Lipsticks (March 2011)

I've always been obsessed with lipstick. Nothing in the world feels quite the same a gliding a creamy bullet of rich color over your lips.

Here are some of my current favorites.

Group 1

1. Bourjois Sweet Kiss Shine #59 Rose Etincelant
Sweet sheer candy pink with gold highlights makes this a soft peach/nude on the lips (below) that's flattering if you have medium to dark skin.
2. Estee

Lea Michele Red-Carpet Sapphire Look

I don't have any particular love for Lea Michele. I happen to be one of the freaks on this planet who has only watched 1 episode of Glee, and didn't feel compelled to follow up with more doses.

But I love this deep, dark sapphire eye. It brings out the warm, rich tones of her brown eyes and complements her olive skin. I have to say it's a little bit of a

Current: Orchid Hush nails (L.A. Girl Robin Blue Creme)

L.A. Girl makes 2 items I love.

1. A true black creme lipstick which has a beautiful sheen and is surprisingly flattering (though I wouldn't wear it to work)

2. One of my favorite creme nail polish colors in the world, #329 Robin Blue Creme lacquer

#329 Robin blue is not really a robin's egg blue. I think someone needs to do some research before naming these shades. This has lavender

Velvet Brown with a Purple Twist (88 Warm and 88 Shimmer Palette)

This is a simple, flattering look which is wearable for the day, and fun for the night. You can also streamline it to just 2 shadow shades if you want. A matte medium-deep brown, and a metallic medium-purple.

1. Apply base and then pack on a medium brown matte shadow all over the socket, and along the outer half of the lower lash line.

2. Fill in lid with a deep matte taupe brown and

88 Shimmer Palette vs 120 Palette

If you had to get one, how would you know which one you'd like more?

Well I did order the 88 Shimmer Palette off ebay when I purchased my 120. And it took a little longer to arrive. But now, it's time for an initial comparison of both popular palettes!

Size of Case: Similar palette dimensions, but the 88 palette has all its eyeshadows on 1 side, whereas the 120 has 2 separate palettes

Review: Make Up For Ever Face & Body Liquid Makeup

Red Smoky Party Eye (120 Palette)

Red is probably one of the least used colors when it comes to eye makeup.

There are some "red" looks floating around, but many of them are so muted or darkened that they don't look really red anymore. And the really red ones are not really that wearable or flattering.

Granted, red in itself is pretty dramatic to begin with, and this is definitely not a day look, but I don't think a good look

Simple Blue Smoky Eye (120 Palette)

Finished Look.

Below, the steps:

1. As always, prime your lids first, then apply a metallic deep ocean blue over your entire lids from lash to socket.
---

2. Apply matte black just around the edges of the shadow, avoiding the inner corners. Then blend it into the blue with a soft brush so that it combines into a deep navy.

3. Dust an amber gold into the inner corners for some

How To: Wear Bright Pink Eyeshadow

I’ve always sworn I would never wear anything noticeably pink on my eyes, because the paler ones look flat and uninteresting and the stronger ones can make your eyes look swollen.

But owning a 120-color palette makes you try strange things. Here is a blow-by-blow of my first brush with pink.

1. I decided if I was going to go pink, it would not be something wishy-wash. So a hot pink

120 Palette Swatches Part 2 and Mini-review

Pan 2:

Row 01: Peaches and Warmer Pinks. Only the one on the far right does not adhere too well and disappears as you rub.

Row 02: Random mixture of shades (browns, pinks, highlights)

Row 03: Reds and Corals. These are deeper and redder than they look here.

Row 04: Violets.

HAUL! 120 Palette Swatches Part 1

Wheeee!
My 120 palette just came in the post today.

And it’s gorgeous.

There are a handful of matte shades which have pretty much no color payoff, and start to “fossilize” the moment you rub them with a finger, but luckily they were mostly lime green and nothing I would wear out.
The other con is that there are a few shades which look pretty much like dupes of each other, so I’m not sure

How to: Choose a Drugstore Palette

1. IF 3 OUT OF 4 SHADES ARE LIGHTER THAN YOUR SKIN, DON’T BUY IT. (Unless you have really deep skin tone, in which case it’s fine as long as the undertones of the shades aren’t all “white/pearl”.)

Too many women gravitate towards pastel palettes where most tones are pale. On the lids, all the pastels will just blend into a single. unflattering wash of contour-less pearl because there’s too

Current: Purple Nails and Eyes

Contrary to popular opinion, I don’t find most purples to be that easy to wear on a day-to-day basis.

It has always been one of my favorite colors growing up, so you can bet I will have way more purple items lying around than I actually would wear.

One of these is Sally Hansen’s Grape Fizz polish. I loved how it looked in the bottle, but was terribly disappointed when I got home, applied it,

Out of the Box: Fading and Treating Acne Scars

It’s a vicious cycle when you need to spackle on industrial strength makeup to hide zits, and then spend months covering up the dark spots until they fade.  While many products claim to fade scars, what they do is mostly to prevent more melanin over-production in those areas, the effect of which will only become

I’m kidding.

No, actually I’m not.
We only had access to Cover Girl and Maybelline at Drugstores when I was getting curious about makeup at 13. And if you’ve tried Maybelline makeup in the mid-90s, you’ll understand when I say the shadows, blushes and lipsticks were absolutely horrid.

Cargo Color Eye Shadow Palette in Baja

New fav status.

Love this palette. Love how simple it is. Love the pigmentation of the colors.

Don't really love the brown on the lower right... It's nice, but throughout the day, it can start looking a bit orange. Which is great for some looks. That still doesn't ruin it for me because the rest of the colors are awesome.

So perfect for creating more natural looks for Spring!

**So many of you noticed me wearing this palette over the past month in videos! I received so many requests for a tutorial and questions about what I was wearing that I created a simple Spring tutorial using this palette to show you how I wear it.
Click here for how I created the look (blog post).

Nails: Chanel Mimosa

Yellow is probably the color least-worn on my nails. My opinion has always been:"Yellow and nails just don't mix".

Until I saw this color by Chanel and caved.

Spending $25 on a nail polish is usually a practice I reserve for the crazies (you know you're reading this...), but I've been known to lose my mind from time to time.

Mimosa by Chanel is a lemon-yellow with a golden frost to it. The frost isn't too intense though. From a distance, you wouldn't even notice it. I'm not too crazy about the formula. Of course, two coats is the way to go. However, with two THICK coats, it still looked a bit streaky in spots and the whites of my nails still show through a bit.

Overall, if you have a little patience with the formula, it's a fun and unexpected twist on nail color for Spring!

Eyeliner Howto: Tightlining Technique, the Waterline & Favorite Products

Eyeballs make me cringe. Seriously. I can sometimes just imagine getting poked in the eye or something crazy happening to my eyes and I almost throw up. True story.

Because of this, lining the waterline and tightlining were always something I stayed away from up until a couple years ago. It just seemed dangerous, unnecessary, and gross.

I'm so glad I gave it a shot, practiced, and have discovered some great fool-proof products over the past few years because I absolutely love the results.
So to show you what "tightlining" and lining the waterline really mean, and how to get great results, I figured I'd make a handy dandy little video tutorial.

...One that didn't make it seem dangerous, unnecessary, and gross.
Because I still cringe whenever I see someone else do it.

If you have sensitive eyes and want to try this technique, make sure you stick to the tips I give in the video and choose safe products that are safe for use in that area. Also, maybe just skip the waterline and start with tightlining.
Check out the video below for a description of both and a tutorial/demonstration of these lining techniques.

Updated Foundation Routine (BeautyBlender)

So during my last skincare haul video, I mentioned the BeautyBlender sponge makeup applicator at some length. I had gone to the store looking for a generic makeup-removing facial cleanser to clean it with which then inspired the whole change in my skincare routine.

Which then inspired a long ramble in that video about my love for the BeautyBlender...

So as promised in that video, here is my updated foundation routine using this product.

Here are some BeautyBlender basics to remember:
-Always use the sponge damp. It expands to almost twice it's size and makes it much softer and springy..er. :) Dampening it really is what makes the product worthwhile and keeps it from soaking up (and wasting) most of your foundation like most other sponges.
-Apply your foundation using bouncy motions. (I demo this in the video)
-Clean it every 3 or 4 times using a gentle cleanser.

BeautyBlenders are available at sephora.com.

My New Office! (Photo Tour)

4.10.11
If you all follow both of my YouTube channels, MakeupByTiffanyD and TiffanyDtv, then you know that during the past few weeks I've been working on a little project in the room I film in. Well, I guess a little project that turned into a big project, that ultimately resulted in a very stressful trip to Ikea. But it was all very worth it! Over the last couple weeks, I've shown you little bits and pieces of the new room, info on the furniture, and shared the progress with you all here and there in random videos.
Now it's (almost) finished and decorated. ...and yes, I actually found something to put inside of all those shelves! :)
In the next day or so, I'll be posting a tour of the new room on one of my YouTube channels.
I've been enjoying the new space SO much. Not only is it beautiful, but it's so practical. I finally have an office space of my own and a TON of extra storage for all of my office-y things.
Here is a little peek of the new room for you all!

The new furniture strangely made the tiny room feel much more spacious...
Bookshelf: Hemnes storage combination (Ikea)
Desk: Liatorp desk (Ikea)
All mirrored furniture: Hayworth collection: Jewelry Amoire, Lingerie Chest, Vanity table with Mirror and Bench (Pier 1)

Still need to find a great chair. Until then, my lil' wire-y one will have to do.

Added a new super girly chandelier... why not. (Home Depot)

The storage in this desk is AMAZING.
Awww at the poor lil' wire-y chair...haha. That's the only thing left to find! The perfect chair.
If you're interested in my pink keyboard cover, I got mine on amazon.com.

In the process of getting a glass topper for the desk. I'm paranoid about ruining it before then.

Spruced-up my little bookshelf. It used to be my Papaw's- he kept his records in there. I painted it white. I decided to add some short cafe curtains to cover the clutter inside. The top shelf houses my nail polish collection. The bottom shelf holds random books.

The new shelf is great for photo storage- From my photo boxes to framed ones to display...

One of my favorite wedding pictures. Brad is not in it though...lol
To-do: Find wedding picture to display in office that actually has husband in it.

Added a new lamp from Target...

And yep, my makeup/filming area stayed just the same!

aaand this is how I work... Still haven't decided if I'm a PC or a MAC. :/

-xoxo-
