MakeupByTiffanyD Got a Makeover!

Because makeovers aren't just for people ;)
So if you guys have stuck around here for a while, you probably had gotten very used to the old look of the blog. It was here for a loooong time.
Over three years long. Shameful, I know.  Every time I looked at my blog it didn't make me happy. It just didn't feel like me, you know?  So I wanted to create a new look that was a lot more simplified and easier to navigate.
My FAVORITE thing about it? The comment section. It's sooo much easier for me to reply to your comments and for you all to reply to each other. I LOVE it. You may wonder, "Tiffany, that's not a genius concept. Why did you wait so long to do that?"
...I. Have. No. Idea.
All previous posts and everything you love is still here. Mostly just the look and a few functionality thingies have changed.
I feel like I've redecorated a room in my home. I've de-cluttered and I LOVE it.
So now since I'm loving the new look, I've decided this is a place I'd like to hang out at more often. More frequent posts, more variety, more good stuff. ;)

Also, many of you have probably noticed my recent addiction healthy interest in Instagram (a la the following photos)... This is new-blog related, and not just another excuse for me to ramble about Instagram, I swear. Sort of.

{if you want to follow me on Instagram for pics like these, my id is "makeupbytiffanyd"}

I began to notice most of my photos weren't just makeup-related, but  more fashion "outfit of the day" photos, my home decor photos, photos of accessories, nails, food, etc.  So I began to think that if those were all things I am interested in, then naturally, my blog is a good fit for that kind of stuff too.
In the past, I've definitely mixed it up a bit and have done posts on those sorts of things, but not as frequently as makeup-related posts. I've for sure had my out-of-the-box moments in the past. I mean who could forget my chronicles of Waylon's 1st Birthday?

Couldn't resist.  Or when I shared a million photos from our trip to the mountains last year? Painting dining roomsbuilding cafe shelves, anyone?

So I've decided to not hesitate to add stuff like that in around here as well. But DON'T WORRY! I'll still be doing makeup posts just as often (probably more actually), but I'll be adding in some different types of posts in between. Fashion posts, home decor/diy posts, recipes, etc.

So if you liked it here before, you'll still see the makeup-y goodness you always loved. Just more stuff added into the mix. Hope you guys love!

OH and speaking of makeovers, did you see my new coordinating banners on both of my YouTube channels?

aaand I'm subscribed to myself. Well, that's embarrassing.

My Current Skincare Routine and Must-Haves

Skincare is something I sort of take seriously. So serious, in fact, that I've stuck with some of my skin care must-haves for over ten years.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Ok, so let's not be too dramatic. Maybe I just simply stick with what works.
While some of my products are the same ones I've used since my younger, super oily and unpredictably breakout prone days, I've found that I definitely have had to change things up a bit so that my products work with my changing skin.
That's the tough part. I've noticed as I've gotten a bit older, my skin has become more combination with some issues with dryness and sensitivity.  However, I'm still prone to break-outs.
Suuuuch a lovely combo.... Plus, I'm concerned with my overall skin tone and texture. I like my skin to look smooth and glowing. Not dry with apparent fine-lines (yeah, those are happening...).
So after some serious trial and error over the years, I've learned what to stick with that still works for me and new products that solve the other problems.  I've found an AMAZING moisturizer which I can safely call my favorite new product I've discovered this year. By far. An amazing eye cream that really works and does as promised, and an anti acne regimen that keeps my pores and skin clean, clear, and smooth.  Lets not forget masks and makeup removers.
So be sure to check out my new Skincare Routine video below followed by a list of all the goods.

Punky-Pretty (Fluorescent Hot Pink with Smoky Cut-Crease)

This is a very dramatic look pairing hot pink with a smoky dark russet brown. Definitely more for the clubs or a party than a day out with the girls!

I used new shades from my BH Cosmetics shadows:

WM20 - An true matte hot pink

MS12 - Dark sparkly blackened red-brown

WS07 - A mid-tone satin mauve pink

Step 1: First run a black khol along your upper and lower water lines.

My Fall Fashion Must-Haves, Tips & Trends

Happy Fall everyone!
Because I've recently picked up some great pieces for my Fall wardrobe, I wanted to share a little video with you guys all about my thoughts on Fall fashion.
I'm definitely not the type to change my wardrobe with each new season. I'm all about personal style and making classic pieces work with new trends year after year.  Trends are just that. Trends. They shouldn't define your style or wardrobe. However, there are so many things trending right now for Fall fashion that can be found anywhere and for a great price.
So I decided to film a new video showing you guys some of my new items for Fall and how I plan on wearing them. I also talk about some new Fall trends and how you can make them work for you by mixing them with pieces you probably already have.
So check out my video below and I'll show you how to take a few new key pieces and freshen up your wardrobe for Fall!

Tiffany

Navy and Gold Evening Look with "Frankenshadows"!

I like blending and mixing my own shadows. I do this mostly with loose mica, glitter, and binders, and sometimes I crush up unwanted shadows, mix them with other shades, and then press them into something entirely new.

In the nail polish community, your own blends of varnishes are called Frankenpolishes. Well, these are my Frankenshadows.

Neo Noir: Dramatic Metallic Look

I wanted to revisit the classic dark-eyes-dark-lips noir look, but update it a little with muted, mysterious colors on the lids. It's actually quite a simple look to recreate.

I'm using limited edition crushed metallic pigments from MAC, but you can easily find alternatives in the permanent range. You will need:

Black pencil
Bright teal-green (Rain Drop pigment; alternative: MAC Steamy

Smoked Emerald Fall Makeup Tutorial

Can I just tell you how much I'm loving the new Urban Decay Smoked Palette? Well I am.
I knew my first look using it would have to be with the amazing green shade in the palette. It's THE perfect green for Fall. So since that deep, emerald, almost "bottle" green is the trendy shade of the season, I couldn't resist.
I hope you guys love this one as much as I do! and don't worry... more Smoked Palette tutorials are in the works! ;)

Tiffany

Graphic Winged Liner Tutorial: Tricky to do but makes quite a statement!

Disclaimer first: this is going to take a bit of practise if you're not used to working with liners.

Also, I used a really bright purple liner from Lime Crime, called Orchidaceous, and I haven't seen any dupes, so if anyone knows any similar alternatives, do reply to this post and let everyone know in case there are some who aren't looking at spending too much on a colored liner!

Paradise Colors: Summer-inspired Eye look

It's time to jazz things up with some brighter colors, inspired by the runways. I'm doing a tropical-paradise color scheme, with lush emerald green, rich brown, and a glowing turquoise.

You will also need a brown pencil for definition and an aqua/turquoise (optional) colored pencil to echo the blue on the waterline.

I used Coastal Scents Hot Pots on the lids and Bourjois pencils,

"Smokey Galaxy" Dark Purple Makeup Tutorial

*due to the many comments in my video tutorial for this look, I caved and renamed this look. I mean, it kid of does look like a galaxy...  Totally unintentional. Gotta love it when that happens.

So can it just start to feel like Fall already? I'm just sayin...
I absolutely L.O.V.E deep dark purple shades for Fall. Or Spring... or summer.  Okay, so deep purples work anytime.  And they're my absolute fav color to wear for eye shadow. Purple shades literally flatter every single possible eye color and are appropriate anytime, anywhere. So I thought I'd share a more dramatic purple look with you all using a new palette that I'm in love with. Best part? It's only $4. Hope you guys love it as much as I do!

Tiffany

How To: Cat Eye Liner

This is my mini-tribute to my cat; a 101 on how to easily create a cat-eye look.

(Do note this look works better if you don't have hooded lids, but I'll add a tip later on how to make it work a little better.)

A retro kitten flick focuses only on the upper lash line. A cat eye is a more dramatic and sultry version of that look, because the liner goes

Pistachio: Green, Amber and Brown Tutorial

I'm featuring a slightly less dramatic and more wearable green in this look. Instead of blue-based greens, gold-toned greens and limes tend to be more subtle, so look out for shades with a bit of yellow, like NYX's roll on eye shimmer in Olive. I used I Nuovi's Moss, which might be a bit harder to locate for most of you outside of Asia.

You'll also need a very warm amber-gold (almost
