Lip Six

Happy Monday and hello from Cairo!  I'm here working until Thursday and I have a feeling this week is going to be a tough one!  But first lipstick....

Top row (L) YSL Rouge Volupte Pearl in 113 Iridescent Burgundy (beautiful colour but so hard to get even) (R) Illamasqua lipstick in Eurydice

Middle row (L) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Precieuse (LE) (R) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Amazing Grace (review!)

Bottom row (L) Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Candy (R) Dolce and Gabbana Classic Creme lipstick in 240 Gorgeous (review!)

I just wanted to explain why over the past couple of weeks there has been a few Estee Lauder, Charlotte Tilbury and YSL lipsticks.  On my snapchat I showed some of my lipstick storage and pledged to go through my lipstick drawer methodically over the next few weeks and try every single lipstick.  I am doing it line by line but I do house my lipsticks by brand hence the frequent appearance of these brands at the moment!

Next week expect lots of Burberry!

Lip Six

lipstick swatches

Lip Six is back after a weeks holiday!  Am so looking forward to this evening-dinner and drinks with Laura, Simone and new in Dubai.....Kirsty!  What better way to induct a newbie into the UAE than great food, wine and company!  SO excited to meet Kirsty, we've been 'online friends' for over a year and yet I only realised last week she is Northern like me.  Cue dropping my 'toned down for Dubai' lilt and going back to full on northern girl!!  Follow us on snapchat....Laura (thelauracarlson), Simone (simonescribes), Kirsty (effortlesslyexc) and me (stadybelle).  My snapchat name has nothing to do with my blog-it's my nickname I've had from my parents since I was little and a play on my full name-in case you were wondering!!

Here's my last six lip picks!

Top row (L) Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in 11 Fraise Remix (review) (R) Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in Rubellite

Middle row (L) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in La Favourite (R) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Love Liberty (review)

Bottom row (L) Charlotte Tilbury lip liner in Pillow Talk with Chantecaille lip gloss in Lucky over the top (my fave glossy nude ever!) (R) Dolce and Gabbana Passion Duo lipstick in 60 Poetic

By Terry lipsticks-worth the splurge?

By Terry
By Terry is one of the really luxury high end brands.  Their products can be eye wateringly expensive but I have rarely tried one I haven't loved.
I reviewed and loved the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder, the Rouge Terrybly lipstick in Pink Party and the Densillis Blush in Platonic Blonde.  I think at this price point you are going to have strong feelings either way about whatever you buy.

I haven't loved everything though-I think the Ombre Blackstar eyeshadow sticks are average at best-I much prefer the Trish McEvoy 24hr eyeshadow and liner sticks and the By Terry Cellular rose blush glace were poorly pigmented.

Today I share three of the lipstick formulas I own and tell you whether I think they're worth the splurge or not.  I bought all of mine from Space NK.

By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge in 2 Mango Tango £26.

First up the Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge in 2 Mango Tango £26.

Costing the same as the average Dior/Chanel/Guerlain lipstick I expected big things from something branded as a sheer lipstick.  And it definitely delivers.  I was a little dubious at first because they can be a little forgiving if applied to very dry lips but once I had sloughed off the dead skin this formula is an absolute winner.

It's light and balm like and incredibly hydrating and has become a permanent fixture in my handbag.  It's shiny and plumps up my pout and lasts a surprising length of time for a sheer, balmy formula.  I would liken the formula to the Dior Rouge Dior Baume lipsticks.

I'd classify this as the perfect, easy to wear weekend lipstick.

By Terry Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge in 2 Mango Tango £26.

By Terry Terrybly Rouge lipstick Terrybly Nude

If the Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge is the perfect weekend lipstick then surely the By Terry Terrybly Rouge lipstick is the grown up office version.  At £33.50 these are incredibly high end and into Tom Ford territory.  I chose 100 Terrybly Nude but I find this a very grey toned on me and not very flattering.  It's funny because Laura and I were talking about this lipstick and Tom Ford Lip Shine in Bare at brunch recently (review coming soon....) and she loves both whereas both on me pull too grey.

I have been so incredibly disappointed with this lipstick.  The formula is so soft that every time I use it the bullet is just disintegrating and it has become unusable.  Smushed.  The formula has become so overly creamy that it sits as a thick layer of product on my lips.  I do live in a hot country where the room temperature is probably higher than that in the UK but none of my other lipsticks are like this.  Even my other By Terry Terrybly Rouge from the exact same range doesn't do this-in fact Party Pink is one of the best lipsticks I have ever used.

By Terry Terrybly Rouge lipstick Terrybly Nude

By Terry Velvet Rouge Gypsy Rose

Finally the By Terry Velvet Rouge-£30-your going out lipstick.  I have the shade 6 Gypsy Rose which is a vibrant purple tone-kind of similar to MAC Rebel (but double the price...).

I like this lipstick but I don't love love it.  I pair it with a lip liner (here I used MAC Heroine) because it is a liquid lipstick which can get a bit messy.  The hourglass shaped applicator makes it surprisingly easy to apply and the formula is smooth and even as well as being opaque.  What I find a little weird though is that the lipstick never seems to set which is unusual in a liquid lipstick.  It doesn't bleed but it's very transferable.  The fade is relatively even and it doesn't dry the lips but I just wish it dried down more to make it less high maintenance.

By Terry Velvet Rouge Gypsy Rose

My pick would be the Hyaluronic Sheer Rouge from these three if you do want to splurge.  Despite the Terrybly Rouge being such a disappointment I have to say that the other one I have is exceptional-maybe I just got one from a bad batch.

Have you tried anything from By Terry?

By the way you may have noticed things look a little different here over the past couple of days.  I decided to buy a pipdig template and then tweak it a bit-I am really happy so far with the result and the ease of which it was to fiddle around with.  Hope you like it too!  Please do let me know if there is anything you don't like or doesn't look right to you xx

Lip Six

lipstick swatches

Happy Monday!  I am in a very positive frame of mine at the moment and a huge thank you for all the support I received on Friday which was the first anniversary of going into remission.  I totally spoilt myself that day (evidence on instagram-expatmakeupaddict)

When I got home I was chatting to Tasha and she said to me I hope you bought fabulous shoes to celebrate moving forward' and I actually had!  So I have resolved that each September 18th I will buy myself some fancy shoes to continue to celebrate moving forward.

I love this weeks lip six, make up is really giving me joy at the moment!  It always did but you know when you especially love it-that's me right now.

Top row (L) MAC Amplified lipstick in Impassioned (R) Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Velvet Underground (review here!)

Middle row (L) Armani Rouge Ecstasy CC lipstick in 305 Brick (review here!)  (R) Buxom Full Bodied lipstick in Centrefold (Limited Edition but NARS Anna is a total dupe) Review of the Full bodied formula here because it's amazing!

Bottom row (L) Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Sunset Orange (R) YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush in #2 Rose Frivole (review here!)

I genuinely shopped my stash this week and these are all lipsticks I actually really love but I have so many that sometimes they don't get the love they deserve.

Lip Six

So yesterday, James my assistant (and beauty blog critic extraordinaire) told me my blog was being 'very predictable' and I think he was specifically relating to this post-my weekly Lip Six.

So I am open to feedback-has lip six had its day?  Should I stop doing these posts?  What else would you like to see here on my blog?  I have always been good at taking constructive criticism so hit me with it!

In the meantime, here are my last 6 lip picks.

lipstick swatches

Top row (L) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Lost Cherry (review!)  (R)  MAC Lustre lipstick in Lustering

Middle row (L) Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick in 42 (R) Dior Rouge Dior Brillant in Miss (review!)

Bottom row (L) MAC Lustre lipstick in See Sheer  (R)  Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong (review here and here!)

Mini rave about Pink Pong-I wore it to a baby shower on Saturday and it is such an amazing liquid lipstick-it lasts forever and does not budge.  I raved about it on Snapchat (add me-Stadybelle!) and am I so in love again with this hot pink!

Which is your favourite?  And do let me know if you think Lip Six should be discontinued?

Have a great week!  My best friend Danielle arrived today so we're having dinner and drinks at Buddha Bar tonight-I think Pink Pong may make another appearance!

The 50th Lip Six on Expat Make Up Addict-and win your own!

I have been so looking forward to writing this post!!  Today marks the 50th Lip Six post on my blog and therefore I have decided to host a giveaway for one of you to win your very own lip six!

The prize will be 6 lipsticks of your choice from one of my favourite brands-MAC.  Currently I own more MAC lipsticks than any other brand and the number in my collection is now somewhere in the 80's.

In honour of this giveaway here is an all MAC lip six!

Top row (L) Matte lipstick in Lady Danger  (R)  Satin lipstick in Rebel

Middle row (L) Cremesheen lipstick in Creme Cup  (R)  Cremesheen lipstick in Crosswires

Bottom row (L) Retro matte lipstick in Ruby Woo  (R)  Matte lipstick in Candy Yum Yum

I have also decided that for the next 4 weeks whilst this giveaway is running I will do 'all MAC' lip sixes using permanent range shades-they will all be pre-scheduled as I am on holiday for four weeks but hopefully it will give the winner some inspiration for the shades they'd like!

Please do read the rules carefully as this will probably be the most logistically challenging giveaway I will have done-and the good news is, it is an international giveaway!

Rules:

1-Please enter via the Rafflecopter widget below

2-The prize will be 6 MAC lipsticks of your own choice.  Limited Edition colour requests may not be honored if the shade is not available.  You can choose any lipstick formula available and may also chose any of the lip gloss range in your selection.

3-The giveaway will be open from Monday 14th June 2015 until Monday 20th July 2015-it has a slightly longer entry period as I am on vacation until the 19th July.

4-The winner will be emailed and will have 7 days to chose their chosen 'lip six' shades.  The prize will then be purchased by me in the easiest way I see fit.  I will either a) Purchase your chosen shades directly from your home country MAC website and have them shipped to you directly b) Purchase the shades from a store here in Dubai and send them to you by courier or c) Purchase the shades from the MAC UK website and have my mum ship them to you (she doesn't know that bit yet lol).  Please therefore allow for reasonable postage time.

5-The winner will be chosen by the Rafflecopter widget

6-This is an international giveaway

7-No substitute prize/cash equivalent will be offered so please only enter if you want to win 6 MAC lipsticks!

8.  No purchase necessary (apparently this is a legal requirement to be stated for giveaways)

9.  The winners name will NOT be published on social media unless they give their express consent to me to do so (apparently another legal requirement)

Good luck!

Here are my last 6 lip picks.

Top row (L) NARS velvet matte lip pencil in Damned (review) (R) MAC frost lipstick in Bombshell

Middle row (L) Dior Rouge Dior Brilliant in Miss (R) Burberry Kisses lipstick in Military Red

Bottom row (L) NARS lip gloss in Super Orgasm  (R) Dolce and Gabbana classic creme lipstick in Gorgeous (review)

MAC 'Bombshell' was a rediscovery for me this week and immediately went into my handbag make up bag!  I just love it.  Also really like the new Burberry Kisses formula-and Military Red is a great 'red' red.

Happy Monday!  And happy bank holiday Monday if you're in the UK.  I'm not jealous at all.....

Here's my last 6 lip picks.

lipstick swatches

Top row (L) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Lost Cherry (R) NARS Audacious lipstick in Brigitte

Middle row (L) Burberry Lip Velvet in Pink Amber  (R) Dior Rouge Dior lipstick in Souveraine (LE)

Bottom row (L) Dior Rouge Dior lipstick in Allegresse (LE)  (R) L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire liquid lipstick in 304 Ruby Opera

I apologise for including two limited edition shades from the Dior Rouge Dior range-but the formula of those Dior lipsticks is sublime and I urge you to try it!  My favourite this week was a cross between Dior Souveraine and Charlotte Tilbury Lost Cherry-but Lost Cherry is really just a more matte version of Souveraine.  On the whole I have really loved the L'Oreal Coulour Riche lipsticks but I really struggled to get Ruby Opera to apply smoothly and consistently.

Lip Six

Happy Monday!  Hope you all had a great weekend!  I had some Bloglovin issues last week but I emailed them and they all got sorted which involved amalgamating the two profiles I had since I bought my own domain (12 months ago...).  They were really helpful though so thumbs up to Bloglovin!

Here's my last six lip picks

Top row (L) MAC Cremesheen lipstick in Fanfare  (R) MAC Redd lip pencil with Dior Rouge Dior Sterling Red

Middle row (L) MAC Cremesheen lipstick in Sunny Seoul (R) NARS Matte Velvet lip pencil in Bettina

Bottom row (L) Tom Ford lipstick in Indian Rose (R) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in 317 La Precieuse (LE)

I really do love the NARS Velvet Matte formula-it's not drying and leaves such a lovely finish on the lips.  I also find the Rouge Allure Velvet formula from Chanel far less drying than the original Rouge Allure.
