Lip Six

Happy Monday and hello from Cairo!  I'm here working until Thursday and I have a feeling this week is going to be a tough one!  But first lipstick....

Top row (L) YSL Rouge Volupte Pearl in 113 Iridescent Burgundy (beautiful colour but so hard to get even) (R) Illamasqua lipstick in Eurydice

Middle row (L) Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Precieuse (LE) (R) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Amazing Grace (review!)

Bottom row (L) Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipstick in Candy (R) Dolce and Gabbana Classic Creme lipstick in 240 Gorgeous (review!)

I just wanted to explain why over the past couple of weeks there has been a few Estee Lauder, Charlotte Tilbury and YSL lipsticks.  On my snapchat I showed some of my lipstick storage and pledged to go through my lipstick drawer methodically over the next few weeks and try every single lipstick.  I am doing it line by line but I do house my lipsticks by brand hence the frequent appearance of these brands at the moment!

Next week expect lots of Burberry!

Which is your favourite?

Sephora Haul-all the lipsticks

There's no lip six post this week sorry, due to travelling last week I didn't get the shots I needed but instead I recently placed another Sephora US online order and when it arrived I realised I had basically bought all the lipsticks.  So it's a lipstick post just not lip six.

Here's what landed in my basket with some swatches.

Give Me Some Lip is a collection of best sellers at an amazing price-a kind of 'try before you buy' if you like.  Who doesn't love miniature lip products?  This worked out at £16.97 which is amazing value for what you get.

Everything in the set I would wear-Lolita from Kat Von D is the only one that looks a little brown for my taste.   I really think they is a great little selection of shades, textures and finishes.

Bite is one of my favourite lip brands-it's such a shame it isn't in the UK or Dubai.  I have tons of their products now but I purchased two new shades from the Frozen Berries collection and I love both!  There was also a 250pt perk which included a Bite mirror, lip gloss and lipstick in the shade Bellini-an uber bright pink.

Lastly I got two more of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks-I already own Berlin and Bachelorette and the formula is outstanding so I have now added Mother and Beloved-how stunning do these shades look?  I wore Beloved in the evening the other day and it's a beautiful colour and so easy to apply.  Finally I picked up a new lipgloss formula from Sephora's own range.  I am a total sucker for a really glossy gloss!

Have you tried any of these formulas?  Which is your favourite?  Would you like me to review any of the shades?

New lipstick shades from MAC!! Little Buddha and Pickled Plum

Little Buddha and Pickled Plum cremesheen pearl MAC lipsticks review

Little Buddha and Pickled Plum cremesheen pearl MAC lipsticks review

Short and sweet post today.  New MAC lipstick shades make me happy!  I have every MAC lipstick from the permanent range that I want to own so newly launched shades make my heart race that little bit faster.

These two are from the 'Cremesheen Pearl' range and to the best of my knowledge these are permanent.  The Cremesheen formula has always been my most favourite MAC formula for it's luminous bold colour.  Cremesheen Pearl is sheerer but buildable and infused with tiny pearlized pigments.  It's less forgiving on dry lips so moisturise well.

I've started with two shades from the range......

Little Buddha and Pickled Plum cremesheen pearl MAC lipsticks review

Little Buddha is a sheer pale but face brightening pink.  Pickled Plum is more of a sheer blue based hot pink.  I love both.

Now I know they're permanent I have Star Magnolia, Pretty Boy and Sweet Sakura on my shopping list!

Happy Monday!   My friends Dani and Toral have now left Dubai but I had the best time with them last week and having a 4 day weekend has left me refreshed and energised.  Today I am off to Cairo for a few days on a business trip and then I am already planning to basically sleep the whole of next weekend!

Here are my last six lip picks-thanks so much for all the positive feedback last week xx

Lip Six

So yesterday, James my assistant (and beauty blog critic extraordinaire) told me my blog was being 'very predictable' and I think he was specifically relating to this post-my weekly Lip Six.

So I am open to feedback-has lip six had its day?  Should I stop doing these posts?  What else would you like to see here on my blog?  I have always been good at taking constructive criticism so hit me with it!

In the meantime, here are my last 6 lip picks.

lipstick swatches

Top row (L) Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Lost Cherry (review!)  (R)  MAC Lustre lipstick in Lustering

Middle row (L) Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick in 42 (R) Dior Rouge Dior Brillant in Miss (review!)

Bottom row (L) MAC Lustre lipstick in See Sheer  (R)  Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong (review here and here!)

Mini rave about Pink Pong-I wore it to a baby shower on Saturday and it is such an amazing liquid lipstick-it lasts forever and does not budge.  I raved about it on Snapchat (add me-Stadybelle!) and am I so in love again with this hot pink!

Which is your favourite?  And do let me know if you think Lip Six should be discontinued?

Have a great week!  My best friend Danielle arrived today so we're having dinner and drinks at Buddha Bar tonight-I think Pink Pong may make another appearance!

Lip Six

Happy Monday!  I have managed to break out of my NARS 'Anna' lipstick rut and put together a more varied lip six this week.  I had a sort out of my make up stash at the weekend and I have a ridiculous amount of new lipsticks so expect lots of new swatches and reviews soon!

Kevyn Aucoin Bloodroses Lip Product Swatches and Review

I've told this story several times on other social platforms, but the very first lip color I ever obsessed over as a child (I was 11) and saved up to buy was a deep dark oxblood or black cherry color.

That obsession has survived over 20 years, which is probably testament to the fact it is timeless and has never gone "out of fashion". Maybe it's the fact that this is a color which balances

Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer

Clinique's launching their new Pop Lip Color + Primer range on 9 April in Singapore.

And that's what is so interesting about the range. They're formulated with flexi polymers and micro-refined pigments to help colors go on smoother and stay vibrant for longer.

Longwearing lipsticks often start to feel dry and get patchy after a few hours, so to prevent that, Clinique has formulated

NARS Spring 2015 Colors - Some Swatches!

NARS St Paul de Vence duo

When someone saw a picture of St Paul de Vence I posted on Instagram, she missed the details in the caption and asked if it was Orgasm and Laguna.

This is actually from the limited edition Spring 2015 makeup collection, and it does have some similarities to the blush and bronzer duo because of the tawny coral-tan tones. But it's a lot softer and more wearable

I'm going to try and keep my blogspot going because honestly - I'm tired of not being able to reply directly to comments on Tumblr.

So to mark my return to blogspot after a long hiatus, here are swatches of the Tom Ford Lips and Boys collection which launches Jan 2 in Singapore and will be on sale for just 8 weeks. Come March, these will no longer be available.

Guest Post | Michael Kors Bombshell Lipstick

Stacey’s Lip Six posts have been the cause of many a high end lipstick splurge, so it was only apt that I reviewed the latest object of my lippie affections. With a vast collection of bold lipsticks and an unhealthy obsession with the one and only Michael Kors, it was inevitable that at least one of the lip products from the designers beauty line would eventually make its way into my collection. Que the Michael Kors Lip Lacquer in Bombshell, a vibrant fuchsia shade embossed with the MK label and encased within the most luxurious, yet effortlessly sleek gold packaging.

Everything about bombshell is perfect from the show stopping yet simple packaging (this really is a product fit to adorn any dressing table), to the long lasting, super moisturizing formula enriched with Shea Butter and Vitamin E. This beautiful Lip Lacquer is sheer enough for a subtle pop of colour, yet buildable enough to create a bold statement.

Bombshell is a little on the pricey side (£23), but my argument is that its a lot cheaper than one of his beautiful bags, or eye catching arm candy. If pinks not your thing, do not fret as this lipstick is part of three sub collections, Sexy (above), sporty (subtle nudes), and Glam (vampy reds). All of which can be purchased from the likes of Escentual and Debenhams.

Have you tried anything from Michael Kors’ Beauty line?

Before I go I would just like to say thank you to Gemma and Stacey for letting me guest post on Expat Makeup Addict. Stacey you truly are a beautiful, brave woman. I wish you all the best wishes and a speedy recovery.

Guest Post | Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set

When I think of Stacey, I think of lipstick. Probably because the first post I read of hers was a Lip Six. It's safe to say I became hooked, besotted, heck I'd even say enthralled with Miss Stacey and her blog from that moment on. I have posted for Stacey before, and for some bizarre reason she has allowed me back to post again - it must be all that medication she's on. Either that or the bribe I slipped Gemma ;)
So basically, what I'm trying to say is, I felt this post was most fitting for the Expat Makeup Blog, because it's lip related. I though it would be something Stacey would like, that's if she doesn't already own every single product in the set already (tenner says she's got at least 3...)
So enjoy, and please, if you do one thing today, make it be booking that much dreaded but actually vitally important appointment to have your lady garden checked. Because, all jokes aside, that is the reason I'm doing this post today. And although I love posting for Stacey, as we've all gathered, I'd much rather have her blogging for us today.
Sephora are back with another favourites set of the lip variety and it's every bit as good as the last (review here). This was kindly gifted to me by the lovely guys over at Roses Beauty Store, the place I get all my America beauty products from.
The kit features 6 coveted lip products, 5 miniatures and one full size. There is only one repeat in the set for me, and it just so happens to be a favourite product of mine, so I'm more than happy about it. The line-up brands wise is pretty spectacular; Urban Decay, Smashbox, Bite and my favourite: Marc Jacobs! I only own one lip product from his beauty range, so I am excited to see one of his products in this set.
The packaging is on point, as per. These favourites sets are always really well produced and always catch my eye whenever I venture into a Sephora. I think this one is my favourite so far, the products are well encased so it's ideal for carrying around.

I've swatched all 6 products below. Prior to application I exfoliated my lips with the Sara Happ lip scrub and applied a balm.

I'm happy with every single product in this set, the glosses are all gorgeous, and I am particularly impressed with the pigment of the Marc Jacobs 'Kissability' gloss. My favourite Buxom gloss in White Russian never fails to disappoint, and I love that there is a dinky Urban Decay Naked lipstick in there, perfect for popping in my handbag. Surprises for me were the Bite lip pencil in Meritage. I own a tonne of these, so it wasn't the product itself I was surprised with, I just wasn't expecting to like the shade so much. I also was pleasantly surprised by the Nars lipgloss in Orgasm. I think I might actually prefer it over the blush! And the full size Smashbox lipgloss in Pout is a welcome addition to my nude lipgloss collection. It looks great on its own, or layered over a nude lip.

I love the idea of having all my favourite lip products in one place, and I think it would make a lovely gift to somebody.

What are your favourite lip products?

Guest Post | Stila 'Avery' Color Balm Lipstick

Thank you so much Stacey for letting me guest post again here on your lovely blog. My name is Gemma and I blog over at missmakeupmagpie.com. Stacey's blog is one of my absolute favourites, so it's always a massive privilege to be able to guest post for her :)

Stila 'Avery' Colour Balm Lipstick
Stila 'Avery' Colour Balm Lipstick
Stila 'Avery' Colour Balm Lipstick
Stila 'Avery' Colour Balm Lipstick

The Stila Colour Balm Lipsticks claim to combine a creamy, highly pigmented lip colour with the hydrating formula of a lip balm. The formula is enriched with astringent peppermint oil which soothes and stimulates irritated lips and cooling the skin with a tingling sensation. Organic sunflower-based polyglycerides also help to plump up the lips for a fuller and more defined pout. There are 18 shades of the Stila Color Balm Lipsticks, and I opted for shade Avery which Stila describe as being a 'soft peachy coral'. The packaging of this lipstick is absolutely stunning.. a silver, metal casing with the word 'Stila' cut out, with the lipstick colour showing through. At the top of the lipstick casing, there is even a tiny mirror which is such an amazing idea. The lipstick feels quite weighty in the hand and so much more luxurious than the likes of MAC Lipsticks.

Avery is such a pretty shade and one I bought after seeing Shaaanxo use it in a few of her tutorials. When I tried it for the first time, I realised that it looked familar and after sifting through my lipstick collection, I've realised that it's almost identical to the Lime Crime Babette Lipstick in terms of shade and finish. The lipstick glides across the lips effortlessly and is really creamy and smooth on the lips with opaque colour in just two swipes. The scent of this lipstick is really lovely.. it has the typical vanilla scent, with an added minty twist.. the mint does make the lips tingle slightly upon application, but not uncomfortably so. The formula of the Color Balm Lipstick is on par with a lip butter except it's much more long lasting with a weartime of at least four hours. I'd love to add a couple more shades to my collection, as I love Avery so much..

Guest Post | The Lip errr...Five?

I'm lying, it's more of a lip four.
Good start Hol, good start...

Ey up ladies, sneaky gents, boys, girls, budgies - and the cheeky Dubai cockerel that Stacey loves so much ;) this is a bit different ain't it?

We're all centre aligned and shizzle?
We're using words such as 'shizzle'?!?!
:|
...well, that's just how I roll ;)

I'm Holly, and I like to have a good old rant on a little blog called Holly Mixtures, where I attempt to review beauty and fashion items without becoming distracted and rambling about nowt, spectacularly failing each time.
Amazingly, for one night only, our Stacey doll has allowed me to let loose on her lovely blog, while she sleeps soundly, (and hopefully with no cockadoodle-do-ing) and recovers from her recent surgery.

She may regret this...

(Tempted to embed Dappy's 'No Regrets' video here, to subliminally convince our Stace that this post is in fact a good idea, however I fear that such content may actually instill further regret, and this post won't last the hour...)

So yeah.
Today, I bring to you my very own version of Stacey's world famous 'Lip Six' post.
I say world famous, because from Dubai to Yorkshire and beyond, ladies everywhere are catching sight of her sexual lips, and threatening to ditch their significant others in favour of snogging her face off in the desperate hope that their lips may become just as kissable, and, that her lipstick is transferable, meaning they too can wear some of her gorgeous stash.
My 'Lip Five' comes to you in the equally desperate hope that my somewhat shakier application skills may still have a similar effect, and therefore could possibly attract one of you sneaky gents out there, (Arab Sheikhs welcome) for a quick smooch and/or marriage, with a three bedroom house and a picket fence/Arabian palace and pet tiger.
 Whatev's, I'm totally cool.

Now given that my lip-wear collection extends to little more than six in its entirety, and with it still being August, I flat out refuse to complete my six with darker berry colours, no matter how much I love them...
Soz guys, five - or in fact four, (oh the shame) will just have to do!

Top Row: MAC 'Lady Danger'/Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in 'Rendezvous'
-The best lipstick ever/The only lip colour I would dare to wear to work.

Middle Row: Sleek 'Mystic'/MAC 'Impassioned.
-It matches some new shorts I've got and therefore must be worn/My first ever proper pink!

Bottom Row: Umm...Naff all/Vaseline :|
-Because I'm a lipstick failure yet to find a nude lip colour that doesn't make me look like a zombie.
***

Now, as JME one said, 'let's get serious'.
Not only is our Stacey doll a fantastic blogger, and an inspiration through the art of perfectly formed lipstick application, but she's an even bigger inspiration in the form of her new status as a 'KACKMy*' - or 'Kick-Ass Cancer Killing Machine yo', and her amazing positivity right now is shining through to us all.
*aaaand worst anagram of the year award goes to...
We can only hope for the bestest outcome, and that she'll be right as rein quicker than Huddersfield Town can sack managers.

I can't imagine the strength it must have taken for her to share her news with us, but I'm so glad she has, and that she's kept us updated along the way where possible...
I'm 23 and it's around a year until I'll get that little letter informing me it's time for my first smear; six weeks ago the mere thought would have filled me with dread, but now I'm almost eager.
Ladies, WE'VE GOTTA DO IT!
Get those smears done and let's try and prevent any more of us needing to use that god awful anagram of mine.

Sneaky gents I'd love to include you in this campaign but that would be relatively hard and slightly odd, so ermm...just like, check your bits and that. Cool?

Lots of love Stace, and kisses from my newly snoggable lips.
;)
Thank you for having me.
<3

It's 6.30am and Huddersfield's equivalent of the cheeky Dubai cockerel is making itself known to my ears.
I'm now tempted to do some my own ass-kicking and kick it's stupidly loud butt onto the frickin' moon, you will be so proud Stace.
I'll pick up your cockerel on't way.
And Dappy for good measure.
No Regrets.
Yezzurrr.
:)

Guest Post | Dior Lip Glow Reviver Balms

Hi everyone!

I'm Anne from lifestyle-oasis. Stacey and I have met at a bloggers event recently here in Dubai. I'm really happy to guest post on her blog although I wish it was under different circumstances...

Today I wanted to talk about my favorite subject... lip balms!

These Dior Lip Glow Reviver Balms have been a staple in my makeup bag for quite some time. If you are not familiar with these they are basically tinted balms that react with your lips PH and turn them into your perfect shade of pink and coral.

I have two shades, the original pink version and a coral that's been released during Spring. I love them both but I have to say that the coral is by far my favorite. The pink one is nice but it turns quite bright on me. My friend wears it too but on her it turns into a lovely light and fresh pink. It really does look different on everyone, how cool is that? :-)

In terms of texture I would say that it's very close to Petroleum Jelly but in a good way. It's moisturizing without being too thick and has a very decent lasting power. Once the glossy effect is gone you are left with a beautiful stain. The color is definitely buildable... the more layers, the more vibrant it will look!

The scent is very nice, a beautiful mix of vanilla and mint without any nasty tingly effect!

I know these are pricey for lip balms but they are a staple in my handbag... They are perfect to slap on during the day and keep your lips nice and juicy looking!

Have you tried these? How do they look on you?

Sending a big warm hug to you Stacey... I'm sure you will kick his ass in no time! We are all behind you!

Mwah! xx

Guest Post | 6 Red Lipsticks That Make You Feel Movie Star Glamorous

Guest Post | 6 Red Lipsticks That Make You Feel Movie Star Glamorous
Guest Post | 6 Red Lipsticks That Make You Feel Movie Star Glamorous

Hi, everyone! This is Laura from Laurzrah.com, guest blogging for Stacey today. Big thanks to Gemma for organising this, and I know Stacey will be sending lots of love to everyone who has commented/tweeted/etc! I know Stacey is having a bad time at the moment, but the silver lining (there is always a silver lining!) is that all her blogging friends have come full force to show their love and support. I was thinking about what I could post for Stacey, and then I thought about what I would want to do if I was in the same boat… I think I’d want to make myself look fierce, and kick the big C’s arse! My aunt is also fighting the big C, and I know she wants to look nice and like herself. Also, this is Stacey we’re talking about, and the girl loves lipstick.

The 6 lipsticks I’ve chosen are all really glamorous reds that I think would suit a variety of people! There will definitely be one for everyone, so hopefully everyone can feel as glamorous as a movie star.

• The two MAC one... Viva glam 1 and Ruby Woo. One matte, one retro matte – both are super pigmented, rich and long-lasting. Viva glam 1 has a slight brown undertone that makes it a little bit more sultry, and one that I think anyone could pull off. Ruby woo is the classic blue-based red that makes teeth look whiter.

• The liquid ones... The Sephora cream lip stain in ‘1/always red’ and the Bourjois rouge edition velvet in ‘Grand cru’. Again both are matte – matte is the way forward I feel – but both feel really comfortable on the lips, and both have amazing applicators that make it really easy. The Sephora one is a straight up classic red, whereas the Bourjois one is a bit vampier.

• The fancy ones... Tom Ford Cherry lush is the most gorgeous pinky/ raspberry red ever. It is just so pretty! One for when you’re feeling spendy, you can’t help but feel glamorous whipping this out of your bag. Estee Lauder vengeful red has the best name, and the colour is an intense and shiny red.

What is your favourite red lipstick?

Guest Post | Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette

Hi my name's Gemma and I blog over at MissMakeupMagpie, and I'm so excited to be guest posting here on Stacey's amazing blog. I really hope you enjoy reading my guest post....

Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette and Lipstick
Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette and Lipstick

Makeup Revolution's I ♡ Makeup line recently launched a range of four 'I am' palettes which each contain a selection of six eyeshadows and a lipstick shade to compliment the shadows within the palette. Each of the four palettes are £5.99 and I have the 'I am Sexy' palette*. The I ♡ Makeup line is very much targeted towards the young/teenage beauty obsessives with their product and shade names as well as their packaging designs - the 'I am Sexy' name of this palette is a little bit cringeworthy in my opinion. The palette is a compact, square shape with a mirror within the lid. The lipstick included with the palette fits snugly into a slot next to the eyeshadows which I think is a nice touch, especially for travel or for carrying in your handbag.

Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette and Lipstick
Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette and Lipstick

The first five eyeshadows within the palette are shimmery and the last shade is a matte black that contains silver glitter. The last four shades within the palette are impressively pigmented and easy to apply.. however the first two shades aren't as pigmented and creamy as the other four shades, and need to be built up and worn over an eyeshadow primer. The last shade; the black, does cause a lot of fallout so I'd recommend either using it with a damp brush, or to apply your shadow before your foundation/base. My favourite shade is the third shadow on the top line.. it's a gorgeous lilac taupe which looks so pretty when worn alone all over the lid.

I'd say that the I ♡ Makeup I am Sexy Palette would be perfect for those who love to create and wear smoky eyes. I really love the inclusion of the jewel tone purple amongst the other smoky shades. I like how you could create quite a neutral look with the top three shades as well as a smoky eye, although you would need to dip into other palettes if you prefer to use a matte shadow as your crease/transition shade - which I do.

Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup "I am Sexy" Eyeshadow Palette and Lipstick

The lipstick included in the palette has a metallic, pink, plastic casing which matches the writing on the front of the compact. The lipstick doesn't appear to have a shade name but it's a blue toned red shade with a satin finish. Due to the satin finish, it's not the smoothest of lipsticks to apply.. and does work better when layered over lipbalm. The shade and finish of lipstick is extremely similar to MAC's RiRi Woo Lipstick (review) - they even apply the same. I do love a good blue toned red.. they're so flattering and help give the illusion of whiter teeth.

I have to be honest and say that this isn't my favourite product I've tried from Makeup Revolution so far, but I do still think it's a great little palette, which at £5.99 is undoubtedly amazing value for six large eyeshadows and a full size lipstick.

Have you tried anything from Makeup Revolution yet?
