Nudestix-Sin, Pewter and Smoke review

I feel like NudeStix have been on my radar recently.  I've seen a couple of reviews on blogs and every time I do I think 'I own some NudeStix, I must dig them out'.

Probably about 12 months ago, during an online Space NK splurge I picked up three of these blind and they have sat in my 'to test/photograph/blog about' drawers ever since.  If you have seen my 'to test/photograph/blog about' drawers you'll know it was easy for these to get lost in there.

You might not have heard of NudeStix as they are a relatively new brand but they were founded by sisters Ally and Taylor who have created a whole line of make up crayons to cover all make up needs with a 'nude but better' mantra.

Each NudeStix comes in it's own little black tin and comes complete with a sharpener.  I like the fact that thought has gone into embossing the logo onto the tin and making it easy to keep the crayons sharp on the go.

I picked up three from the line-one lip/cheek pencil in Sin and two of the eye pencils, smoke and pewter which come with an inbuilt smudger.

My thoughts are a little mixed.  I like the lip/cheek pencil and am surprised how well it works particularly on cheeks given it has a very waxy/balm like formula.  Sin is a kind of rose pink on the lips with a glossy finish.  On the cheeks I just drew little X's and then buffed with a Real Techniques stippling brush-the result was seamlessly blended flushed cheeks.  I didn't feel the product sitting on my skin and it didn't feel greasy or tacky.  This pencil is great for touch ups during the day.

On me the eye pencils don't fair so well.  I get that Nudestix is all about emphasis of natural features and subtle definition but on me the colours swatched better than they looked on my eyelids.  First up the sharpened pencil is too harsh-I had to blunt the nib to apply it to my eyelids.  The formula felt very waxy and didn't really dry down at all, leaving me with oily and creasy eyelids.  From a distance it looked fine-almost kind of 'Mary Kate and Ashley' glossy (oily)/almost grungy defined eyes (especially the Smoke shade) but up close I wasn't happy with the creasing.  If you have dry skin on your eyelids these will probably work well but they're a bit of a no no for me.

I personally feel that the price point at £24 each is a little too high given the performance.  I'd feel much happier paying around the £15 mark for this brand given their infancy.
