Lipstick Queen Silver Screen lipstick // Space NK // £35
I'm going to straight up say outright, I don't think the latest luxury offering from Lipstick Queen is worthy of a hefty £35 price tag.
I reviewed two of the Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope lipsticks back in July and was impressed. Silver Screen is the follow up to those, packaged in the same heavy, column packing but in silver rather than gold. Whilst I do like the packaging from an aesthetic point of view, in reality it's heavy and clunky and difficult to carry around (although perhaps if I thinned out the actual lipsticks currently in my handbag that may help).
But as it's what's inside that counts I can't help feeling these fall short of the mark in terms of formula. There is nothing hugely wrong with them if I am honest, but to carry a £35 price tag you need to be that lil bit extra special.
The texture of these is very very light, almost balm like but retains decent pigmentation. I found that the top bright pink shade Play It has good pigmentation, even and opaque coverage. The bottom orangey red shade Have Paris was less even and could apply a little patchy and took quite a bit of work.
For me, there are just as good, similar finish lipsticks out there for a good few pounds less. Dior Rouge Dior and even the Dior Rouge Dior Baums are a good example.
They're not terrible. They're just not incredible. And for £35 I'll be sticking with Tom Ford in future.
