It's no surprise to see Charlotte Tilbury on my blog and today I am sharing my thoughts on The Golden Goddess palette.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept of the eyeshadow quads from Charlotte Tilbury the 4 shades do not have individual names, all of the eyeshadow palettes have the same designation for the 4 shades-(going clockwise from top left) prime, enhance, smoke and pop.  The Golden Goddess palette is a classic combination of neutrals and Charlotte says this look has been inspired by beach goddess Gisele.

There are 3 warm shades in the quad including the glitter 'pop' shade and a cooler taupey colour.  The 3 non glitter shades have the same satin finish as The Dolce Vita and definitely lean away from the shimmery, almost frostiness of The Uptown Girl.

This palette has the same qualities as The Dolce Vita-smooth, even application, very little fallout, good pigmentation and superb lasting power.  But I am not as impressed with this palette overall as I was with The Dolce Vita-the pigmentation of the Pop shade doesn't translate to the lid as well as the Pop shade in The Dolce Vita and on the lid, the enhance and smoke shade show very little colour transition and variation between the two when used together despite swatching entirely differently.

The base 'prime' colour is smooth, pigmented and and applies evenly.  A warm pale yellow gold.  An all over the lid colour or as an inner corner highlight.

The top right 'enhance' shade is a cooler toned grey taupe in the pan but actually pulls more of a neutral taupe on me.  Extremely wearable.

The bottom right 'smoke' shade is a warm mid bronze.  It's ridiculously easy to blend and for a daytime look looks brilliant paired with the prime shade.  However, as I have stated above, the differentiation between the enhance and smoke shade on the lid is very subtle when used together-but these are both fantastic 'day' shades.  On it's own on the lid it's really lovely, bold and bronzey and lovely on green, hazel or blue eyes.

The bottom left 'pop' shade is disappointing in this palette.  It does not have the gritty, chalky texture of the pop shade in the Uptown Girl palette and it doesn't feel like it's falling apart when you put your finger in it.  But I have tried to both pack it on with a brush and with my finger it just doesn't translate to the lid at all which is such a disappointment after the bronzey perfection of The Dolce Vita.

To me, this is the most difficult one to get a contrasting 'desk to dusk' look because I feel it's lacking a slightly darker, smokier shade and the only thing you can do to vamp it up is apply the smoke shade all over as the pop shade really does not perform. I am not disappointed with the palette because the formula of the 3 satin shades are fantastic and the shades are extremely wearable. I just think the The Dolce Vita is 'the one'.
