The review: Elemis White Flowers Lip and Eye Make Up Remover

When I think of Elemis I think 'pampering'.  When I flew home to the UK for my mums birthday earlier this year we went on a girlie spa day where an Elemis facial was included- we both declared to be the best we'd ever had.

When Elemis launched the White Flowers Eye and Lip Make Up Remover* I was a little sceptical.  Elemis to me is all about gentle and soothing, could an eye make up remover from them really stand up against the eye make up and heavy duty mascara I wear daily?

The answer is yes it certainly does!  This is a bi-phase formula which I have long been a fan of and find to be the most effective at removing mascara.  The 'oil' phase is made up of nourishing cleansing oils and it's the oils that break down the waxes, oils and pigments in eye make up.  The 'water' phase contains luxury ingredients I have come to expect from Elemis-white water lily (toning), white peony (hydrating) and white tea (soothing) along with marine spring water and B5 to condition your lashes.  The combination is really effective, even managing to break down the notoriously difficult to remove Ellis Faas E401 mascara I blogged about recently with a couple of swipes.  There's no need to rub vigorously to remove stubborn mascara and I don't experience any redness or irritation after using it which is great because I have quite sensitive eyes which I am prone to rubbing after removing my make up, which is terrible for the delicate skin around the eyes.

Although this formula contains oil, it doesn't leave behind lots of greasy residue.  I really like the Garnier Soothing 2 in 1 make up remover and the Lancome Bi Facil but I don't like the greasy residue they both left behind after using them.  Elemis seem to have got the combination of effectiveness, gentleness and skincare benefits perfectly balanced.

The downside?  It's a little pricey and definitely a luxury eye make up remover.  It's in the same price bracket as Lancome Bi Facil or the Clarins Instant Eye Make Up Remover.  The good news is a little goes a long way and the results are impressive enough for me to justify a repurchase!

And luckily I can make that repurchase in Dubai as Elemis is stocked at Bloomingdales in Dubai Mall and Debenhams in Mirdiff City Centre.  They have a really user friendly website www.elemis.ae where you can purchase directly.  Elemis is also sold in Harvey Nichols in Kuwait.

What's your favourite eye make up remover?  Have you tried the Elemis White Flowers Eye and Lip Make Up Remover?

As an aside, when I was surfing the internet yesterday I came across this Elemis Think Pink Beauty Heroes Kit on Feel Unique.  This is a special created, limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness collection of some of Elemis' award winning anti-ageing skincare.  Elemis are donating £10,000 to Breast Cancer Care, a fantastic charity that is close to my heart.

Breast Cancer Care is just a phone call or mouse-click away for anyone who is affected by breast cancer. The free helpline, information-packed website and online forums offer a friendly ear and expert advice to those dealing with the turmoil of this life-threatening illness. Across the UK, they also offer skilled emotional and practical support through a range of confidential, face-to-face services, helping people every step of the way.
